OUR HISTORY

The Making of the Greatest GENERATIONS Foundation

For more than two decades, we have upheld a sacred commitment: to return thousands of World War II veterans to the very sites where they served, fostering healing, reconciliation, and remembrance. In doing so, we honor their courage and sacrifice, ensuring they are never forgotten. From the battlefields of the 20th century to the present day, we safeguard their legacies and create places of reflection where future generations may draw strength, gratitude, and inspiration.

“Our mission is clear: to walk with veterans as they return to the hallowed grounds where history was forged — to honor their sacrifice, to support their healing, and to build a bridge of reconciliation and peace that unites generations.”

- James BLANE, Ambassador

THE BIRTH OF OUR MISSION

    The FOUNDER

Inspired by a promise to his grandfather, Timothy Davis set out to create a living bridge between generations—a place where remembrance becomes healing and the past guides the future. What began as one grandson’s devotion grew into a mission uniting veterans, families, and communities in gratitude. From Normandy’s shores to the Pacific islands, Davis walked beside veterans as they returned to the places that shaped their lives and service. Out of these pilgrimages, The Greatest Generations Foundation was born—not just an organization, but a guardian of memory, carrying forward stories of valor, sacrifice, and brotherhood to inspire generations yet to come.

    The JOURNEY

For over two-decades, The Greatest Generations Foundation has stood as a testament to one man’s mission: serving veterans by preserving their legacies and honoring their sacrifices. What began as a promise grew into a lifelong journey to ensure that the courage of America’s heroes—on battlefields from Normandy to the Pacific—would never be forgotten. As World War II veterans pass into history, their stories live on through pilgrimages, education, and community remembrance. The Foundation is more than an organization; it is a sanctuary of service, healing, and gratitude, where remembrance bridges generations and inspires renewed commitment to freedom’s enduring cost.

    The LEGACY

Honoring the final wishes of the Heroes of World War II, the Foundation carries their legacy forward through Connecting Generations—an all-inclusive educational curriculum created to ensure their sacrifices continue to inspire the future. This initiative goes beyond textbooks, bringing students face-to-face with veterans, turning history into dialogue and battlefields into classrooms of conscience. Through these transformative encounters, lessons of valor, sacrifice, and service become living instruction rather than distant memory. Extending its mission, we now serve the next great generation—Vietnam Veterans— through healing pilgrimages, community enrichment, and legacy preservation.

Healing Through Return

Battlefield Repatriation is not simply a journey — it is a sacred passage of remembrance and healing. For more than two decades, we have walked beside World War II veterans as they returned to Normandy, Tunis, Inchon, and beyond. With each pilgrimage, memories were honored, burdens were eased, and scars began to mend. Now, as this generation writes its final chapter, we carry forward their torch of courage and reconciliation.

Guardians of Memory

In fulfillment of a sacred trust, we, the members of the Foundation, solemnly pledge ourselves as Guardians of Memory. We call upon youth, families, educators, and communities across this nation to honor the sacrifices of our veterans, to preserve their stories, and to teach their lessons with fidelity and reverence. United in purpose, we safeguard the legacy of courage, service, and sacrifice that has defined America, ensuring that history endures as a living guide and a lasting inheritance for generations yet to come.
