OUR HISTORY
The Making of the Greatest GENERATIONS Foundation
For more than twenty years, we’ve kept a simple but powerful promise — to return veterans back to the places where they once served with courage and heart. These journeys are about more than just returning to old battlefields. They’re about healing, remembrance, and reconnecting with the moments that shaped their lives — and our world. Standing on those same grounds, many of them find peace, forgiveness, and a sense that their sacrifices truly mattered. Every program reminds us why their stories must be told and preserved — not just as history, but as lessons in strength, gratitude, and hope. We do this to make sure future generations never forget — and so they, too, can be inspired by the men and women who gave everything for freedom.
“Our mission is clear: to walk with veterans as they return to the hallowed grounds where history was forged — to honor their sacrifice, to support their healing, and to build a bridge of reconciliation and peace that unites generations.”
- James BLANE, Ambassador

The FOUNDER
Inspired by a promise to his grandfather, Timothy Davis set out to create a living bridge between generations—a place where remembrance becomes healing and the past guides the future. What began as one grandson’s devotion grew into a mission uniting veterans, families, and communities in gratitude. From Normandy’s shores to the Pacific islands, Davis walked beside veterans as they returned to the places that shaped their lives and service. Out of these pilgrimages, The Greatest Generations Foundation was born—not just an organization, but a guardian of memory, carrying forward stories of valor, sacrifice, and brotherhood to inspire generations yet to come.

The JOURNEY
For over two-decades, The Greatest Generations Foundation has stood as a testament to one man’s mission: serving veterans by preserving their legacies and honoring their sacrifices. What began as a promise grew into a lifelong journey to ensure that the courage of America’s heroes—on battlefields from Normandy to the Pacific—would never be forgotten. As World War II veterans pass into history, their stories live on through pilgrimages, education, and community remembrance. The Foundation is more than an organization; it is a sanctuary of service, healing, and gratitude, where remembrance bridges generations and inspires renewed commitment to freedom’s enduring cost.

The LEGACY
Honoring the final wishes of the Heroes of World War II, the Foundation carries their legacy forward through Connecting Generations—an all-inclusive educational curriculum created to ensure their sacrifices continue to inspire the future. This initiative goes beyond textbooks, bringing students face-to-face with veterans, turning history into dialogue and battlefields into classrooms of conscience. Through these transformative encounters, lessons of valor, sacrifice, and service become living instruction rather than distant memory. Extending its mission, we now serve the next great generation—Vietnam Veterans— through healing pilgrimages, community enrichment, and legacy preservation.

Why it Matters
For our World War II veterans, returning to the battlefields of their youth is more than a journey — it is a sacred homecoming of the heart. For over two decades, we have accompanied them on pilgrimages to more than thirty legendary sites — from the shores of Midway and Normandy to Hiroshima, Moscow, and beyond — where courage met sacrifice and history still whispers through the wind. With every return, tears are shed, friendships rekindled, and long-silent memories given voice. As this extraordinary generation writes its final lines, we pledge to honor their legacy, preserve their stories, and carry their torch of healing, remembrance, and hope into the generations yet to come.

Guardians of Memory
In fulfillment of a sacred trust, we — the members of the Foundation — pledge ourselves as Guardians of Memory. We call upon the youth, families, educators, and communities of our nation to honor the sacrifices of our veterans, to preserve their stories, and to pass on their lessons with devotion and reverence. United in purpose, we safeguard a legacy of courage, service, and sacrifice — ensuring that America’s history remains not only remembered, but alive — a guiding light and lasting inheritance for generations yet to come.
